Top 5 At-Home Spa Treatments

Updated: Jan 23

Hello Everyone!

I have only gone to an actual spa a handful of times in my life, and I really do love going, but I don’t always have the time or money to go. So, instead, I try to replicate some of the treatments at home. Of course, I can’t replicate all of them, like those deep tissue massages, but there are some alternatives that I love doing, which you can do too! So, here are my top 5 at-home spa treatments.

1. Clay Masks

Nothing beats a good facial, especially when masseurs use those one-of-a-kind clay masks that only they can get. But you don’t always need them. Instead, you can buy a pot clay from your local drugstore, and they’ll do a good job too. Not only that, but they’ll also last you much longer than one spa trip, for the same price or less. The trick is to use that clay mask at least once a month, and it’ll last you an entire year! The only reason why spa facials cost more is because of the service the masseurs provide you, like the darkened rooms, the candles, the gentle music, and the atmosphere.

So, if you can’t afford the spa treatment, just get a clay mask at home, dim the lights in your house, put on that gentle music, light some candles, slather on that clay mask, and relax on your bed for 20 minutes, before washing that mask off. It’s a perfect alternative.

L'Oréal Pure Clay Detox Charcoal Face Mask

Available at Boots & Superdrug

For my recommendation, I suggest the L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Charcoal Face Mask. It not only pulls out that gunk in your pores, but it helps your skin feel refreshed and renewed! Plus, it smells good!

2. Under-Eye Patches

One of my favourite at-home spa treatments, which I use quite often, are those under-eye patches you’ll find floating around on the internet. They’re essentially pieces of cotton or gel that are coated with a cooling serum, mostly to help with dark circles and wrinkles. I’ve been using under-eye patches for the better part of a year, and although I haven’t noticed major changes, it has helped control my dark circles and any puffiness around my eyes. It’s all thanks to the ingredients used in their serum, like hyaluronic acid and caffeine.

It also helps with catching eyeshadow fallout! So, sport these suckers while putting your makeup on, to stop any unwanted spots. Normally, I use them at the end of the day, just before bed, twice a week, since I don’t always have time to relax. However, you can wear them at any time in the day, and however often you need them, but remember to leave them on for about 15 minutes, to really let your skin soak in those hardworking ingredients.

Benton Snail Bee Hydrogel Eye Patches

Available on Amazon

If you ask me, I’d recommend the Benton Snail Bee Hydrogel Eye Patches. You get 60 pairs! And if you’re like me, it’ll last you for at least a year. So far, it hasn’t let me down.

3. Jade Rollers & Gua Sha Set

I love using these jade rollers & gua sha sets! Using them is like having mini face massages every day. A lot of people will say it’ll help with putting on skincare products, but for the most part, it’s to help aid with blood circulation and reduce redness. It’s also supposed to help you wake up or even relax, depending on the time of day you use them.

I love using my rollers and gua sha set, and yes, I’ve seen results. It’s helped reduce the redness in my nose and cheeks and has helped me to wake up or even relax when I use them. Normally, I use my jade rollers in the morning (yes, I have more than one) and the gua sha stone before I sleep, and I’ve seen a difference in this last year.

Bubuxy Jade Roller & Gua Sha Set

Available on Amazon

If you’re interested in getting your own, I suggest buying a set that has a ridged roller, because they help dig deeper into the tissues of your face and tackle the pressure points to help stimulate your blood flow. Not only that, but they also come with a gua sha stone, which helps with more targeted pressure points, since it covers a larger surface area and contours to the lines of your face.

4. Essential Oils/Diffusers

If you really want to relax, why not use a diffuser and essential oils. I absolutely love using these around my house. In fact, I use different scents in different rooms. For example, in my bedroom, I use lavender and other relaxing scents. In the bathroom, I use citrus and other refreshing scents. In my living room, I use fruity scents and other floral scents. Having diffusers in my home, no matter if it’s a reed diffuser or a plugin, really helps me to feel more relaxed.

Personally, I prefer the reed diffusers, because they’re passive and I don’t need to consciously turn them off before I sleep. However, with the electric ones, you can always refill them with different scents, and yes, there are more modern diffusers that are wireless and have timers. However, I do often forget that I have a diffuser in the first place, since I’m mostly away from home, so I don’t usually turn it on.

Luxury Reed Diffusers by Rituals

Available at Rituals

For the reed diffusers, I highly recommend the diffusers from Rituals. I love their scents! Not only that, but their body care and home care products are my own luxury indulgences.

Reed Diffusers and Other Scent Products by AromaWorks

Available at Boots, Holland & Barrett and AromaWorks

If you want scents that are unique, then try the AromaWorks brand. They do scents like Soulful, which is a blend of Juniper berries, Patchouli and Frankincense, and Nurture, which is a blend of Chamomile, Lavender, and Geranium.

DiffuserLove Essential Oil Diffuser

Available on Amazon

For the electric aromatherapy diffusers, then I’d suggest the DiffuserLove aromatherapy diffuser, on Amazon. Not only does it have a relaxing light, and it’s decorative, but it also has a timer, so you can sleep knowing it won’t be on all night.

5. Scrubs And Exfoliators

One of the best spa treatments I use at home is a body scrub or exfoliator. They not only help you get rid of dead skin cells, but they help your skin stay smooth and soft. It also helps with blood circulation, since you’re literally massaging your body while exfoliating and removing the dirt and grime from your body.

I exfoliate or scrub my body every other day, so I know that my body is clear and free from any dead skin cells or oils, and it really makes my skin feel soft and smooth after my shower, especially if I use a body lotion/butter to help lock the moisture in.

The Ritual Of Hammam

Available at Rituals

If you want to know my favourite products, it’s the Hammam collection or the Jing collection by Rituals. I absolutely love these two collections.

The Ritual Of Jing

Available at Rituals

If I really want to tackle the deep-set dirt and oil in my skin, then I’d go for the Hammam collection, but I usually use the Jing collection, just because their scrubs are less harsh than the Hammam scrubs.

Have A Spa Day At Home!

There you have it! My top 5 at-home spa treatments! They’re mostly inexpensive, so you won’t need to fork out too much to feel like you’re living in luxury. Not to mention, some of these treatments will last a while. I know that some of the reed diffusers I’ve used last for at least 5 months before I need to replace them. So, before you try to find the cheapest alternative, think about how often and how much you’ll need for yourself and your home, and you’ll find the value in your treatments.

Well, that’s it from me today. I’ll see you guys next time!
