Writing Prompts -Take It And Hide

Hello Everyone!

It’s been a while since I posted up a writing prompt, granted I already do monthly ones on the landing page, for this section, but sometimes, having a proper post to highlight a few prompts is sometimes an easier thing to see. Of course, I could also argue, that our last Creative Writing post, by our guest and friend Simon, was made up of writing prompts, but I’d like to write a few myself.

Anyway, this post’s theme is action and high-speed chases. Now, you can use these prompts in novels, in scripts, short stories or just about anything that’s creative and original. So, I hope to see you guys writing your own things and sharing them. Don’t forget to tag me in them, so I can read them and share them here and on my social media accounts! So, without further ado, let’s get to it!

Write Something For Me

1. An Exhausted Hand

Balus stared out at the desolate landscape. It was littered with bodies, blood, broken weapons and shields and the churned-up mud from the trample of thousands of soldiers. He couldn’t stand anymore, but he tried, he wanted to see the destruction, the cost of the battle. They’d won. They’d finally taken back the city that was owed to them. It was disgusting but it was beautiful. He’d be able to sleep in a bed for once, instead of a pallet on the floor with the mice. He was free.

2. A Highly Secretive Parcel

The drone of sirens in the distance sounded like they were getting closer and Kayla turned her head, to look back, knowing she’d see nothing, but daring to anyway. The package under her arm was starting to slip and she tripped on an invisible stone. Crashing onto the concrete pavement, Tyler stopped in his tracks, watching his mom struggling to rise from the pavement.

“Come on! We’re gonna get caught!” he cried, rushing back to help her. When she cried out in pain, he stopped, and they both stared in shock and horror as they watched blood pouring from her thigh, where a particularly sharp piece of broken glass had wedged itself deep into her skin.

With no other recourse Kayla shoved the package into Tyler’s chest and tried to keep the pain from showing in her eyes, “Tyler, you know where to go. You know what to do. Leave me. Run. Don’t look back.”

Knowing exactly what she meant, Tyler shook his head vehemently, “No, no, I can’t. I don’t want to leave you.”

“You have to baby. I’ll just slow you down.” She caressed his head as best she could, with her good hand, and kissed his forehead, before pushing him away, “Go.”

3. The Price Of Freedom

“Do you see your people down there? Do you see how futile your fight is? What made you think you could defeat me?”

4. The Trouble With Apprentices

Amalia squeaked as she bumped into something, she knew she shouldn’t have. She squeezed her eyes shut and very slowly she turned to see what she’d destroyed. When she opened her eyes, bits of glass were scattered across the floor, and a very questionable liquid was now corroding the wooden boards faster than she could move. Aghast and afraid, she stared, horror-stricken trying to figure out what to do. Her mentor would be back any minute and there was no way to figure out this mess. She’d really done it this time.

5. Let Me Tell You A Story

“My boy, pray that you never see the fierce eyes of a griffin in your life,” the old wizened man wheezed. His glassy eyes were cast to a distance that no one else could see.

“Have you ever seen a griffin, Capro? What are they like?” the young boy, no older than five years old, asked. His wide and excited gaze was trained on the old man, as he clutched at his knee, hoping to hear more
