Hey guys! Happy Easter! As I said in a previous post, I was just too busy over the last few days of March to really finish the video, plus I wasn't feeling very motivated (lots of personal things going on...I might write a post about it on my website, later down the line, but for now, just know things are slowly getting better). Anyway, I know it's April now, but I still want to give you a proper March video, so, here is the Bauhaus inspired home for March! I say "Bauhaus Inspired" because I know this isn't a fully Bauhaus house, and it is more modern take on the style, but there are lots of nods to the design era. For the longest time, I wondered what the different between Bauhaus, Minimalist and Brutalist architecture and design was, because for a layperson, it's all the same, but after doing deeper research, and sifting through different articles online, I realised, Bauhaus is "functionality in design". So, make it pretty, but functional (I guess that's where the multipurpose furniture idea comes from). That's why, you'll find small nooks and crannies where things really shouldn't go, like the 1x2 corner pieces that should really just be cut off, but I hate wasting space, and a 1x1 square always has some decorative or functional uses (like bookcases or small tables). So, that's why those pillar pieces, for the outside, are used on the inside. I hope I'm making sense, but anyway, I do love how modern this house looks, and in all honesty, I wish I could use it in my actual gameplay, but for the aesthetics of the Sims I'm playing with, the house doesn't fit, but who knows, I might make a Sim later down the line, whose aesthetic does fit the house. Hey guys! It is finally done! I promised you this build, back in February (which was about 3 days ago), and it's finally done! Say hello to the Art Deco Theatre & Bar. So, like with my previous video, this lot is made in the Art Deco style. Now, it's not fully Art Deco, but there are lots of elements of it, because here in the UK, Art Deco was simply another industrial way to move forward, but many wanted to stay in the past, particularly the aristocracy and the upper class. Now, why a theatre, I hear you ask. It's precisely because at the time that the Art Deco movement came about, the clash between the upper class and the lower classes were getting really high. At the time, the upper classes wanted to differentiate themselves from the lower classes that were becoming richer. So, they indulged. They went to parties, gathered at salons and lounges, and yes, they went to the theatre. By going to the theatre, watching a play or a concert was a luxury the lower classes could afford, even those that had risen in the ranks. So, that's why it's a theatre. Of course, because it's The Sims 4, I could only do so much, without CC or Mods, so I made it a little modern, with the little café stall on the 2nd floor. Nevertheless, I am very proud of this build. It took me 2 days straight, to get it done (since I had a week off to work on this build). My favourite part is the backstage area. I love how cluttered it is, and full of equipment and junk! Now, I know there should be side exits, for fire safety reasons, but the lot wasn't big enough, especially for what I wanted to do, and I didn't want to make it too big, because, well...it would take me more than a month to finish. So, this is what you guys are getting for now. Who knows, I may remake this theatre, and make it even grander than before. For now, I really hope you like it. I know I do. Hey guys! Yes, I know I'm late, but things have been kind of crazy at work, so I didn't have the energy to edit this video, but it's done now, it's up, are you happy? In all seriousness, you guys, I do love this house. It's giving London 1920s. Ok, so, here's what I mean. Yes, Art Deco is a vibe, yes it's glitz and glam, but it wasn't all glitz and glam. In fact, the glitz was all a ruse from the upper class, of the time, when the lower classes and the middle classes were starting to gain a little more money and prestige than they had liked. So, they did everything up in golds and silvers, just to make things seem as if they were impressive and luxurious (well...they did get that part right). In any case, for me, Art Deco isn't just about the symmetrical lines, and the straight patterns (there are some curves there ladies, you just have to know where to look), it's the era of murder mystery. While the Victorian age had Sherlock Homes, Art Deco had Hercule Poirot, and the like. So, my idea of Art Deco isn't the glamorous parties, you find in The Great Gatsby, it's the subtle shift from tradition to modern, in those cosy murder mysteries...thrown in with a little glam, but hey, can you blame me? Now, my favourite room of all of these is probably the entrance hallway or the office (because the right person knows what I'm talking about!), and the office really does scream Art Deco, with its patterned black and gold walls! Hey guys! I'm back! And I come bearing gifts! As I said last week, I was rather busy, so I wasn't able to finish creating this video (not the build, but the actual video), but it's done now, and I'm so proud of it. So, in my previous video, I told you guys that I'll be starting to create community lots, and this is the first of them. I love this lot, because it's a freaking café! Do you know how much I love my coffee, and good café vibes? I mean, I'm a barista, so I should, but in all honesty, I love this build, because it's sort of my dream workplace. If I could own a café, I'd own this one. I love the plants, I love the architecture, and I love just how cosy and open it feels. Anyway, as I said before, this month is a Scandinavian inspired month, which is why this build looks like this. It's not quite fully Scandinavian, because of the industrial notes on the inside, but that's why I don't claim it to be a fully Scandi build, although I do hope you guys like it just as much as I do. Hey guys! Happy New Year! I'm starting this year off with a bang! For each month I will be making houses (and community lots - Yes you heard me right, COMMUNITY LOTS!) according the a theme that I set for that month. So, as you can see, I've assigned January to a Scandinavian inspired theme. Now, I know this house isn't strictly Scandinavian, but it is close. I was actually torn between industrial and Scandinavian, and I thought why not do a mixture of both, since they're so close together. So, that's what this build was inspired by. I wanted to include the warm woods of the Scandinavian lodges, with the coldness of the industrial style. Maybe one day, I'll make a full on Scandinavian house, but you're getting a mixture of both this time. I do like this house, even though it's small. I can so definitely see this as a house for an interior designer or architect (just like one of my older videos), and I can see the dark style fitting in well in the Brindleton Bay area. Actually, I could also see it in Copperdale but I thought the isolated nature of Daschund's Creek was perfect for this build. Anyway, what do you guys think? Hey guys! Merry Christmas! I know Christmas Day is over, but that doesn't mean the Christmas season has ended just yet. I did promise you a more traditional family Christmas house, well...here it is! I was mostly inspired by the Home Alone house. If you don't know what I mean, look up the movie, watch it, and see just how amazing it is, for a Christmas movie. It's such a great piece of storytelling. Back to the build, I find Christmas a nostalgic season, where I rewatch all the films I watched when I was a child. That means, I go back to the old Barbie movies (yes, I mean those movies, like Barbie as Rapunzel or Barbie in the Nutcracker - those movies), The Chronicles of Narnia and my all-time favourite Harry Potter. All of these films kind of helped inspire this build, particularly the Barbie movies, as many of their Christmas settings are in houses like this one. So, much of the house is inspired by my nostalgia and these films. Anyway, this house was a nightmare to make, because I challenged myself to only use the Base Game, Season and the Holiday packs for this house. So, there are very limited clutter items I could use...I realised just how dependent I've become on those kits! But, I did it! Of course, there are loads of repeat items in the house, which I'm sure you can replace, with items from other packs, if you so choose. Now, I do have one piece of advice, if you choose to download this house, from the Sims Gallery, just know that it will tag the house as having used something from the Get Together pack, now I don't remember using anything from this pack, but who knows. I've tried looking for it, but can't seem to find it, and I don't really want to scour the whole building just to find one item.
