Hello Everyone!

I think you all know what time it is! It’s Build Time! Ok, so this week, I have a community build ready for you. This one, I actually wasn’t sure about. I had initially planned for a brewery, or a vineyard, like the ones you see in the Tuscany region or the south of France, but when I opened up the game and began building, I realised what could be better than a bistro, or a luxury restaurant?

Mediterranean Restaurant

Europe is known for their pride in good food. You have Italy and Greece, with their Mediterranean cuisine. You have Spain and their spices and meat. You have France with their high-end cooking styles, and even Germany is proud of their Bratwurst. So, why not make a restaurant? Plus, it ties in with the Hacienda build! If you haven’t checked that out yet, I highly recommend you do, it’ll tie in with what I’m talking about here. But I’ll save all that detail later in this post, check out the Mediterranean Restaurant video first!

Now, like I said, I was torn, with this build, because I’d built something similar, for my own gameplay, and wanted to recreate it for this video, but with all the other builds I have planned, coming up, it would have mimicked another community build I’m planning to make. So, it made sense I created something different. Hence, the restaurant.

Oh, and before I forget, you can download the lot from right here on my website. Just download the attached ZIP file above, extract it, and drag and drop the files in it, into your Tray folder, for your Sims game. It should then be in your game's library, ready to use.

Why A Mediterranean Restaurant?

Firstly, you already know. I explained it earlier. I didn't want to make a similar build later down the line. Secondly, like I said, it ties in with my Hacienda build, because for that story, I imagined that when the lord of the manor, or the don of the family, settled down with his now wife, and two children, he could see that his wife was growing bored. So, he bought her a restaurant, to both show her how much he still loves her, and to get her to do something, other than laze about at home (you can bet she’ll complain to him that she’s stuck inside, with nothing to do).

Lovely couple

On the other end of the spectrum, I chose a restaurant, because, for whatever reason, I always associate Europe with its food. There are so many distinct flavours and diets that I had to make this one a restaurant. Also, like I said, in my previous blog post, I modelled this month’s theme after the Mediterranean, and southern Spanish design styles. If you’ve already checked out my Hacienda build, then you’ll know there are many Moroccan influences in that build, that connote the south of Spain, and while haciendas are mostly associated with Mexican or South/Central American homesteads, my hacienda's inspiration came from the south of Spain, so why not pay homage to that.

That’s why, I went to the other end of the Mediterranean and styled this restaurant after the bistros in Italy. While, yes, many bistros are in the city, there are many farm-to-table hidden gems that dot the country, and even in other countries in the Mediterranean. So, I emulated that. Since I couldn’t put a farm in the hacienda, I wanted to put one here…well, it’s not exactly a farm, it’s an orchard. However, if you download the lot to your game, you’ll find there isn’t an orchard there.

Details I Think You Might Appreciate

So, as I mentioned, there isn't an orchard here in this build, and if you’ve downloaded my previous lots, like the Old Wine Cottage, or the Art Nouveau Manor, or even the Old Factory, any of them really, you’ll find that all the activity areas (by that I mean the gardening plots, pots, and even easels for painting), I leave all of these things blank, so you can populate and grow whatever crops you wish. I also leave some space on surfaces to give you guys a chance to fill them yourselves, with all the crafted items your Sims might make.

Bins & Staff Patio

Of course, I don’t leave everything blank, but there will be spots that you can use, and hey, if you run out, you can always delete the objects I've put in and replace them with your own . I’m also trying to avoid putting items on shelves, in a way that they will continue to float, if you play with walls down or half down. That way you can play, without an obstructed view. However, there will be times when I can’t avoid it, because it makes sense to have a lot of clutter items, in spots that aren’t the snappable spots that the Sims 4 have (I’m talking about above the cabinets in kitchens and shelves in those areas.

Why Didn’t You Just Film The Brewery That You Made For Your Personal Gameplay?

I’ll admit, I was tempted, but I didn’t want to film it, because there are some specifics to it that wouldn’t make sense. Essentially, the gameplay is based on something, another project of mine that, if successful, will make a whole lot more sense, once I show it to you all. When that happens, then I may stream my gameplay (that is, once I get rid of all the…mature mods that I play with – yes, I do play with Wicked Whims, please don’t come for me). Nevertheless, I can’t really tell you much about my personal gameplay, or the builds I make for it, at least not yet, not with things still up in the air about it.

Kinogath Brewery

However, I will say this, it is a beautiful build that I’m proud of, and it’s not the only one. I also have a clubhouse for the “club” that my Sims are a part of, I built a blacksmith (which uses a lot of Mods and CC, so I can’t really showcase it, until I’m more experienced at finding out what CC and Mods I use), and as you saw in one of my earlier blog posts in this section (From The Sims Space to Build The Dream), I have an estate that I built for my Sims. I’m also working on another house build, which funnily enough is another hacienda type, for another Sim that I’m currently in the middle of playing with. I also have lots of other builds planned, like businesses, palaces, and clandestine spaces for the more unsavoury of my Sims.

Geldung Smithy
The King's Seat

Essentially, I’m building the lore for my gameplay, while I play. However, that’s a slow process, since I’ve been busy with other things, and haven’t had the chance to play it in a while. In fact, I’m still stuck building the hacienda house for the Sim I’m playing, and no, I can’t use the Hacienda build I showcased last week, because there’s a specific detail of this Sim’s story that needs extra space, which the Hacienda build doesn’t account for. So, the builds for my gameplay are strictly off limits, for the time being.

Back To The Restaurant, Why Make A Wedding Reception Room On The Second Floor?

So, I used to work for a wedding magazine, and most of the content that was in the magazine were based abroad (i.e. not the UK, where I live). It was focused on destination weddings, and most of the advertisers and articles were about properties and spaces in Italy, where it was an all-in-one venue. They mostly included a restaurant, a ceremony space, a reception room, and accommodation. While this restaurant build didn’t include accommodation, I thought it would be a good space to have a wedding reception. So, the couple could have married in a church across the way and would have led their guests and family to the restaurant, for the wedding reception.

Essentially, it mimicked a wedding that would most likely take place in a small town, in Europe, where they involve the entire town. So, I would imagine that whenever the restaurant was booked for a wedding reception, they would close the main part of it down, so that the guests of the wedding could roam about however they liked. Not only that, but because they’re enclosed behind a dense jungle of a garden, there’ll be lots of privacy there, for the function, so no one who wasn’t invited could peek at what was going on. Or at least, that was the thought behind it. Like I said, I worked for a wedding magazine, and a lot of these spaces catered to these kinds of events, so, for me, it would make sense to have a wedding reception here.

It's Not A Small Business Venue, It’s A Restaurant Venue

Now, I’ve not played with Dine Out properly, before. I’ve only ever played it as a customer, because the story I was telling with my game didn’t include running a restaurant. However, because this build was a restaurant, I wanted to be sure it worked for those of you who did want to play and own a restaurant...and boy does it work! I loved the little snippet I played, with this restaurant, and because of that, I definitely, somehow, include Dine Out as part of my gameplay.

Kitchen 2

It’s gotten to the point where I’ve made a new gameplay, different to the one I’m playing now, just so I can get one of my new sims to play as a restaurant owner. I can’t wait!

Anyway, all of it works, and I’m so glad I made this. In fact, it’s going on my list of top 5 builds, and has shifted quite a few other builds around. Nevertheless, I’m glad I made this build, and I will definitely be adding it to my gameplay, soon. If not now, later in the future.

Well, that’s it from me today. I hope you enjoyed the video, and you got a little more context as to why I made this build. I’m going to go and film a new video for you now (not a build this time). While I do that, please don’t forget to like, subscribe, comment, share and follow me, here on Feather’s Charm, on my YouTube channel, on my other social media channels (Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok), and on Patreon.
