My Bullet Journal Journey | 2026 | Episode 5 | September

Hello Everyone!

It’s finally done! The next episode of the My Bullet Journal Journey series is finally out. As I mentioned on my social media channels, and on YouTube, this episode was going to be majorly delayed, thanks to a really bad fever I had a few weekends ago. Plus, a few commitments required my attention, so I couldn’t finish this month’s setup as quickly as I had liked. Anyway, it’s done now, and I can talk about it. The Theme: Vintage Coffee

So, as you can see, in the video, the theme for this month is something I’d like to call “vintage coffee”. Why? The aged page look I achieved; with the stamps I had in storage! Don’t worry, I’ll talk about that in a bit. First, let’s take a deeper look at the theme. As you all know, I always associate September with the coffee theme, and this year, it’s no different. It’s literally my favourite month, because of this theme. Not to mention, the seasons are changing, and it is the perfect time to start drinking those hot drinks; and after such a hot summer, it’s very much needed, now that’s it’s getting colder.

Now, for the past 3 months, I’ve been creating the scrapbook style of journal setups, and while I don’t use my ever-present patterned paper for this setup, I still used a lot of washi tape and stickers, to achieve that look. Don’t get me wrong, when I was setting up to make these journal spreads, I genuinely brought out the patterned papers I thought I’d use, but then when I started smearing my page with stamp ink, I realised I didn’t need it, so I put them to the side, and just focused on the washi tapes and stickers, and I’m glad I did. Otherwise, the aged page look would have disappeared behind those scraps.

The Stamps

Ok, so you’re probably wondering where these stamps came from, as I said in the video, I had these sponge stamps and the inks tucked away, in my storage boxes, for a while, because I thought I’d use them in much earlier bullet journal setups (we all know how that turned out). Nevertheless, I managed to finally use them in this setup! I bought these stamp pads and stamps on Amazon, and you can find the link to it, in the video description on YouTube (like I said, I don’t list my products here, because I’d be repeating myself too much), and they did the job. Unfortunately, the ink I used for the aged page look didn’t have enough, so I ended up buying another one (yes, you can find these stamps individually on Amazon).

You might have noticed, throughout the video, the stain on the paper does fade from one page to another, and this is true even with the new pad I bought. I essentially found out the hard way that these kinds of pads aren’t built for this kind of heavy-duty use. So, if you’re going to look for a good stamp pad, find good quality ones that you can refill, over and over again (you know, so you don’t throw them away and let them go to landfills). Now, don’t get me wrong, I had to throw these ones away, because they didn’t have the option to refill, so that’s on me, but you can be sure that once I run the set down completely, I’ll be buying stamp pads that are refillable. Again, I just need to wait until I have the resources and finances to be able to buy them.

The Washi Tape

So, you all know I love my washi tape, especially the ones I get from The Washi Tape Shop, I mean, half of my current hoard is from one of their very early iterations, where they started out as a drop shipping company. These tapes are so good, and although over time they do lose their tackiness, I’m fine with that, since I have an EZ Runner that helps me make those old washi tapes tacky again. I mean, you might have seen me, for one of the earlier pages, use the EZ Runner to stick one of the larger pieces of washi tape to the page. 

I’m sure you’ve guessed by now that there’s a “but” involved here. When I bought this new batch of washi tape, the Caffeine Canvas, I’d bought both the regular paper washi tape and the PET tape. Now, I assumed that the paper version was going to be like the others, where I’d have to cut around the pictures, to get them to look decent in my journal, and I was fine with that...but then I had also assumed that the PET version would be similar to the floral ones I bought a few years before.

I didn’t read the label, and didn’t realise that it didn’t come pre-cut. That was on me. They do mention on their website, when their tapes and stickers are pre-cut, so if you’re looking on their website, be sure to read the description carefully. Otherwise, you’re going to end up like me, where you’ll need to cut the tape yourself. Regardless, I love these tapes, and I’m lucky I got them before they ran out of the PET ones. The colour is so much nicer and clearer than the one on the paper. I think they’re trying to sell out the paper ones, so get them before they’re gone!

The Dictionary Cards

So, you all know I usually add dictionary cards to my setups. I added them to all of my June, July and August’s setups. It’s no different for September. I did add them to the pages of my journal. However, I wasn’t as focused on these cards as I used to be. Why? Many of the cards that are left in the “deck” I have (yes, I’m calling it a deck) are repeats of ones I’ve used before. So, I didn’t have a real reason to use them. Also, if you take a closer look at the deck, you can see that the collection is drastically smaller than what I started out with. I am beginning to run it down, and I am looking into using other dictionary cards, but I won’t buy them just yet. It still has a few good cards left!

Like I said, I want to completely run down all the resources I currently have, before buying new ones, so I’m not so wasteful (because you know many of those extra resources will eventually go in the bin, sooner or later). Right now, I’m in that limbo of “do I use the same words again, to finish the deck, or do I buy something new, and use the rest for other projects?”. Honestly, I am willing to buy a new one, and use the rest of these cards for my junk journal pages (if you haven’t checked those out, go and do that, those videos are on my YouTube channel as well), but there’s still quite a lot there that I need to go through, before I do buy a new set. So, for the time being, no I won’t. I may do it in a few months’ time, but not right now.

What Do You Think of My September Setup?

Honestly, I’m in love with this setup. It’s always going to be one of my favourites, and probably the favourite, for a long time to come, but we’ll see, I may top it next year, who knows. For now, I enjoyed making this spread, even if it took me 3 days to make (like I said, I had to film the pages in increments, because of commitments I had at the time). I’d say if I had to redo the spread again, I’d probably use a fineliner, for the lines of my boxes, rather than the double-ended fibre tip pens I used, only because the ink was spreading while I was creating those lines.

Plus, I should have been a bit more patient, since the stamp ink hadn’t dried (which again, contributed to the ink spreading), but nevertheless, I am happy with what I’d made. What about you guys? What do you think of this year’s September spread. Let me know in the comments below.
