Hello Everyone!

It’s been a while!

It’s been a hot minute since I last posted on this website. Yes, I’ve had guest posts up in the meantime, but I’ve not really uploaded anything new myself. Now, that’s not to say I’m not hard at work. I’ve written a few blog posts over the last year or so, but I never really got to finish it, what with work and other things getting in the way, but now, I have the time to write, and these posts will be more frequent, now that I do (fingers crossed).

Anyway, to start off, I am going to be writing about my dive back into my bullet journal again. So, everyone, welcome back to the My Bullet Journal Journey series! If you haven’t checked it out yet, go and check out the video on my YouTube channel, and while you’re at it, why not leave a like, comment, and if you’re interested, subscribe. No matter how you engage, your support is always welcome, and if anything, it helps me make more content like this, for you guys.

Check out the video below.

What got me into bullet journalling?

It was just before the COVID lockdowns, I believe, I started bullet journalling, to see what the fuss was all about, and it got me wondering if it would help me keep that habit going. Now, just to be clear, I had been journalling before, but that was more about having a diary, and writing in it, every night. That was something I’d been doing, since I was a teenager (on and off, there were some years I didn’t write, and others I did, religiously), but I didn’t think to decorate or add any form of art or craft in it. I just thought it was something you write in, and got messy with, if you wanted to include a memento or something.

Before the Bullet Journal

Eventually, I started scrolling through Instagram, and suddenly found all these beautiful journals, with stickers, washi tape and layouts that you don’t typically find in a standard pre-printed journal, and it called to me. I wanted to give it a go and see what worked for me. So, I started watching How-To videos, all of which told me to start simple. Yes, I started simple, and yes, I immediately started to add colour and my own personal touches to the journal, because I did not like the black and white of it all. I’m a visual person, and I like the stimulation that comes with colour, so I began doodling, adding my own trackers and practicing my calligraphy, to liven up the journal I was using.

Starting A Bullet Journal

Soon, I was experimenting with layouts and styles that suited me, and my lifestyle, and thus, the My Bullet Journal Journey series was born, and I learned that not every journal needs to start at a specific time of the year. It can be made any time. In fact, I could have started this year’s bullet journal in the middle of May, if I wanted to, but if you know my personality, I like to start at the beginning, and that’s why this year’s journal starts in June. So, look forward to that video, at the end of the month, or if you’re a paid Patreon member, you can look forward to it a week earlier.

So, What About This Video? What Is Included In Your First Pages?

For the time being, my first pages include my Future Log. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically an overview of the coming year, which in this case, is the last 6 months of 2026. Like I said in the video, I’m not including 2027 in this Future Log, because I don’t know what will happen in the next 6 months, I might be able to create a Future Log for the whole of 2027 in December, I might find another full time job, and eventually forget or stop using my bullet journal again, you never know. So, that’s why this journal, for now, will only include the remaining months of 2026.

My Bullet Journal Journey - First Pages

It also includes a small space for Recap notes. These notes are for me to go back to, when the year is done, so I can look back on all the things I’ve done in the year, and give my thoughts on how things went; whether I was productive, or not, whether the year ended the way I thought it would, or whether, I need to do more, to ensure that next year will be better.

My Bullet Journal Future Log

Of course, if you’ve seen the other iterations of the My Bullet Journal Journey series, you’ll have seen me use the First Pages as tracker logs, for many different things. In the first iteration, back in 2023, I used my First Pages as logs to track the videos I’ve uploaded, the blog posts I’ve written and the craft projects I carried out, during the year that that bullet journal was being used. In the end, I didn’t fill the logs out as much as I would have liked, that year, but that was because I wasn’t fully dedicated to my YouTube channel at the time, and I was working a full time job, which I eventually left, to become a barista (which was a whole different headache that led me to stop using my bullet journal, the first time).

My Bullet Journal First Pages Recap

Now, because I’m out of practice, I didn’t want to overload myself, like I did before, so I kept this year’s First Pages simple, so I can rebuild my confidence again, and prepare for any other changes that may happen later this year.

Will You Take Up the Yearly Trackers Again? Are We Going To See More Videos In The Miniseries?

At the moment, no, I will not take up my Yearly Trackers this year. For context, if you’re familiar with my YouTube channel, you’ll know I also have a My Bullet Journal Miniseries, where I upload my yearly trackers, and other bullet journal logs or pages that aren’t included in my monthly spreads or in the First Pages of the year. These pages are something I create, to keep track of things, throughout the year, but because I’m easing myself back into creating my bullet journal, and because I don’t know where this year will take me, I will not be making these pages, for this year. I may do them for next year, but we’ll have to wait and see.

In all honesty, I would love to take these trackers up again, because then, I can use the back of the journal, but with everything so up in the air at the moment, I don’t think I can commit to them, and the habits that I want to track with them. I’m hoping I can use them again soon, because I do love making these trackers. I love seeing the progress I make with the projects I’m working on. I love the different colours and looking back on all the achievements I’ve made, but as it stands, that is going to have to wait.

What Can We Expect To See In Your Bullet Journal?

For the time being, you can expect to see different styles of scrapbooking, colours and themes, for each month. I mention this in the June video, and I’ll probably mention this again, in the accompanying blog post, but I associate each month of the year, with different colours, and you’ll notice the pattern, as I continue to make my bullet journal videos and upload the pictures to my social media channels (which I highly recommend you follow). Essentially, I will continue to use the scrapbook/junk journal style throughout the journal, for the remainder of this year, because that is my preferred medium.

Bullet Journal Junk Journal Style

I may incorporate other mediums, like watercolour, maybe even a little gouache, but unlike before, when I thought I could experiment with different materials, fully, I’ll be sticking to one style of bullet journalling. Firstly, because of the convenience and the ease of creating the scrapbook/junk journal look, and secondly, because I want to use up as much of the resources that I have as possible. I have a lot of patterned papers, coloured card, stickers, washi tapes and other scraps that I’ve gathered, over the last year and a half, and I need to completely use them up, before moving on to other mediums or buying more.

Art Supplies For Bullet Journals

Of course, I have to say, I am excited to use them up (although the hoarder in me winces every time I peel a sticker off its backing, and the perfectionist in me cries at the thought of using the last repetition of a sticker). I find it challenging to create a spread using those scraps and making a spread look beautiful and put together, without having to resupply the sticker or washi tape I’ve used up. Eventually, the last sticker will be used, and the last of the washi tape will be stuck to a page, and that is something I both look forward to and dread, because then I’ll have to be creative with the rest of the resources I have, and that’s what excites me. I get to be clever with my supplies.

Final Words?

I cannot wait to see what the rest of this year brings. As I mentioned in the video, a lot has happened over the last year or so, and I will be explaining myself, once the dust finally settles, but because I have a lot of time on my hands, for now, I can commit to making these bullet journal videos, and all the other videos I make. So, you guys can look forward to more content very soon.

Well, that’s it from me today. I hope you enjoyed the video (if you haven’t, let me know why), and I hope you guys are happy with my explanations here on this post. If you guys have any opinions, or if you want to contribute to the videos or blog posts in any way, let me know! I’ll happily take your feedback and ideas.
