What Exactly Is The Plan For Feather’s Charm

Hello Everyone!

Today, I’m going to be talking about Feather’s Charm itself, and the latest updates I’d like to give you about it. As you all know, it’s become an arts and crafts blog website, and a follow-up showcase of all the videos I create for YouTube, but it wasn’t always like this. In fact, it started more like an online diary for myself, where I ranted and talked about my everyday life, as a sulky and moody teenager/young adult (it was called something different back then, and I'm so glad I changed the name). Over the years, it transformed, and found itself in many different iterations, from a topic blog, where I wrote about all the different aspects of life I wanted to cover, like music, games, film and TV, and yes, arts and crafts, to what it is today, which is still a blog about aspects of my life that I want to cover, but in a different format.

Blog

There was another iteration, a few years ago, where I wanted to make Feather's Charm an educational one, and drew on my passion for ancient civilisations, like Ancient Rome and Greece, and even Ancient Egypt. I even tried to add a language section, because I was very interested in learning languages (I still am, and am still learning Korean, Spanish and Japanese, although very slowly). However, there was no cohesion there, and I’m not a teacher, so I couldn’t really be qualified to talk about these topics. So, instead, I shifted gears and transformed Feather’s Charm into what it is today.

The Current State Of Feather's Charm

Firstly, The Design Studio initially started as the Director’s Studio, where I would write essays on my favourite films, my opinions of the films and TV shows I’ve watched, and essays on the theory of film production (because yes, there is a lot of theory behind the making of a movie or TV show), but it wouldn’t have been appropriate for an arts and crafts blog website. It’s the complete opposite direction, even though it is considered both an art and a craft. That’s why it had to change, and it’s now built around the Sims builds I make on YouTube.

Secondly, The Crafty Corner has always been The Crafty Corner and was the whole concept I built this new iteration of Feather’s Charm on. I love crochet, and I love my crafts, and initially, I was going to build the section around the crochet picture tutorials I started making, back in the day, but then, I started making videos on YouTube. Soon, the Crafty Corner became centred around the My Bullet Journal Journey series, which is actually a lot better, because I’m more consistent with these videos, rather than the tutorials. Don’t worry, I’m starting to get better, and we are slowly branching out this section to include those crochet video tutorials. So, keep an eye out there, if you want to learn how to crochet.

Lastly, The School Of Life was supposed to be built around the Explore With Me section of the blog, and was supposed to be built around the Lush London series, which I would have made videos for, if I had the money and resources to create them. However, because I was working a full-time job, and the money I made didn’t cover a lot of outings for myself, I had to hold off on the Lush London series, and still have to keep it on hold, until I have the money and resources to pick it back up. Needless to say, I still want to make these videos, it’s just going to take some time before I do. Although, I am discovering other ways to upload these types of vlogs, and maybe I'll add a different series to help the Lush London series out a bit more. If you've seen my TikTok, I may included a new "Whimsical Windsor" series to the channel, but I will need to put a pin in it, for now, until I am able to actually film those vlogs.

The Plan For The Next Year

So, as you know, I’ve begun working on the YouTube channel lately, uploading weekly videos and creating frequent shorts and social media posts. That’s because I am currently unemployed. This all happened back in April, and I will get into it, like I said, in a later post, but right now, my focus is on the future. Essentially, with everything so up in the air, I’m hoping that Feather’s Charm can be my main source of income.

I know it’s going to take a while, but, because I’m now constantly creating content, I’m hoping it won’t take me as long as it would have, while I was still in a full-time job. Now that I can dedicate my time to making content for Feather’s Charm, the frequency and the quality of my content should be good enough or improving enough, to reach the right audience. So, if you’re reading this, you’re probably my people. Hi!

Hello

Of course, video creation isn’t exactly going to make a lot of money, especially since I’m somewhat new to the industry. So, I am also creating other pieces of content that I hope you guys will enjoy. Part of that are my house and community builds on The Sims 4. I realised that relying on The Sims 4 gallery isn’t always a good thing (I tested it out, and my account doesn’t even come up when you type my name in). So, I learned how to make my builds downloadable for the Simmers who want to use them, without having to search my name.

Another part of the content I want to share with all of you are digital downloads, particularly Bullet Journal Packs I've recently made. Now, I know these sorts of things are probably easy to make, especially with free art creation software like Canva, Adobe Express and the like, but I’m fairly sure many of you don’t have the time to be creative on those apps and just want something to download. So here’s the deal, I will create those journal spreads for you, and I will give you 2 options. You can download the free version, which will only include the monthly overview and habit trackers for the month, or you can download the paid version, which includes the entire monthly layout. This is where you guys can help me make my content creation turn Feather’s Charm into a business.

Handshake

I’m sure you guys can make these digital downloads yourself, if you’re creative enough, but I also know there are those of you who don’t have the time to be that creative, so you’ll buy a pre-printed diary instead, but they won’t do what a bullet journal does. They aren’t personalised enough. That’s why I wanted to create these downloads for you. You can create your bullet journals, without having to create them. All you need to do is print out the digital downloads on my website or Patreon, cut out the edges of the pages, and stick them into your journal ready for you to use. Handy right?

Ok, I’m getting ahead of myself here, because it will take time for my people to find me, and to be happy enough with me, to pay for my content. Honestly, I don’t even know if you guys will want to pay for my content, and that’s ok. I’ll keep trying, and you know what, while I do, my content should keep getting better to the point where you will want to pay for it, and I look forward to the day that happens.

What’ll Happen In 5 Years Or Even 10 Years From Now?

Well, if you guys help me out, and let’s say my 1-year plan works, and Feather’s Charm is finally a business, I will, of course, reopen my crafts shop. If you’ve been with me from the start, you would have seen a craft shop briefly pop up on this website, selling mediocre crochet items, like a crochet cushion cover, a bundle of crochet flowers and some small crochet pouches. As you can see, that shop is gone, for now. That’s because the items I was selling never sold, and they were taking up space in my home. So, I had to donate them, and I gave them all away to charity shops.

Charity

I’m not disappointed, I knew it was going to happen, because I was working at the time, and didn’t even know how to promote the shop. However, the dream is still there, and I do hope that one day I may be able to open it up again, and this time, give you guys a variety of other arts and crafts pieces that I make by hand, rather than relying on other suppliers to help me out. No, I do not condone drop shipping. It may be a sure-fire way to start a business, but as an arts and crafts enthusiast, who also advocates for local and handcrafted items, that’s not what Feather’s Charm is about. I pride myself in making things by hand, because with the rise of technology and AI, the important survival skills that we should really know are dying. So, by advocating for making things by hand, I can prolong that death, for however long I can. Plus, should that new technology suddenly collapse, there will be less people in the world who'll know how to survive without it, so, by keeping those skills alive, we can at least have a few people who know what to do, and teach others about them.

Class

So, in 5 years or even 10 years time, I hope Feather’s Charm can be and will remain open for business for a long time to come, and who knows, you might even see a shop or two on the high street! Of course, these are just pipe-dreams that may or may not happen, and that’s ok. They’re distant goals that I would like to slowly work towards, as long as you guys continue to like my content and help me build Feather’s Charm into what I hope it can be. And who knows, maybe you’ll be part of that journey, in a more personal way. Feather’s Charm may become big enough where I’ll have enough resources to actually hire you as part of the Feather’s Charm team.

So, Look Forward To These Newly Crafted And Beautiful Things With Me!

As I said before, this is all speculative right now. I know I have a long way to go before I can be proud to say Feather’s Charm is open for business. I wanted to write this post, so you guys can get an honest view of what I hope Feather’s Charm can be, and I hope you guys will stick with me long enough to see all these plans come true. It may take a year, it may take 2 years, or 5, or even 10, but one way or another, we’ll get there.

For now, I am grateful for your support. Without any of you liking, watching, subscribing and commenting on my content, I wouldn’t be able to keep Feather’s Charm going. I know I’m only at the beginning of my journey, but I’m sure as we continue on, it’ll only get better. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support.

Ok, I’m going to go cry in a corner for a bit…that got me a little emotional. I’m sorry if I made you feel a little emotional too, I didn’t mean to, but to those of you who are new here and to those of you aren’t but haven’t yet, please don’t forget to like, subscribe, comment, share and follow me, here on Feather’s Charm, on my YouTube channel, on my other social media channels (Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok), and on Patreon. Your support really helps me make more content like this, for you guys.

And as always, be kind, be creative, and be unique.

I’ll see you later!

Feather, out!
